Continue the learning journey with the following extension activity:
In LIBRARIAN INTERVIEW, students should imagine that they’re the manager of a library and that they are looking to hire a librarian. In the first part of the activity, they should all pretend they are the manager. Have them work individually at first and use the article to write between five and seven interview questions that will help them hire the best person for the job. Once they finish, have them find a partner and take turns interviewing one another using the questions they wrote. At the end of each turn, the interviewer (library manager) should tell their partner (the job applicant) whether they will be hired or not! For extra engagement, hold a whole-class discussion where students share whether their partners have what it takes to be a librarian or not, and why.
